Dec 18,  · The Dream Merchant is certainly a stand-alone work, and I recommend it without hesitation. I did find that my reading of The Last Marlin enhanced and enriched my enjoyment of The Dream Merchant. Readers who enjoy either book will certainly enjoy the other. I only wish that Fred Waitzkin were more prolific as a novelist/5(35).
